My Life

Anchorage Alaska Temple Photoshoot

The Temple

As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the temple is a special place.  This temple in particular is where I proposed to my wife ( a fun story, in and of it's self) as well as where we were sealed for time and all eternity.  A temple marriage is different from all other marriages because it is there that the sealing power is used to marry couples for all eternity!  What an incredible opportunity!

When I was asked to photograph the temple I of course was very excited.  I really wanted to find the right setting and to have it stand out!  It took some time and planning to get everything to come together at the right time and place, and I think we did it.  With the help of several people we were able to create this image of the Temple!  We took some creative license to really help it pop.

As an Architectural photographer I don't always get the opportunity to photograph something that means so much to me, so this was really special!

Halloween Costume Fun

Happy Halloween

from the Davis kids!

Our kids love holidays!  Any holiday really.  They just love to do something fun and this year they were so excited for Halloween.  Our oldest daughter Sydney loves to do arts and crafts with her mother so this year they decided to make their own costume.  They spent hours working on their idea and had a great time together.  We are not big on the scary side of Halloween, but we sure do enjoy an opportunity to do fun things with our kids.

Of course my contribution had to be something with Photography, so we decided to set up a quick photo shoot with the kids.  When I say quick - I mean quick.  The don't have a very long tolerance for these photo shoots.  Here are some fun photos to show off our kids costumes.

Family News

ANNOUNCING...

We've been debating and praying about having another baby for several years and finally felt confirmed that now was the time.  With such fun news to share, it seemed natural to want to find a unique way to spread our joy.

The subject matter

Yes, I usually am posting images of commercial architecture or real estate photography, but today was a day for something out-of-the-box and creative.  My wife says I am like the mechanic that doesn't keep a car running at home and while this still doesn't give us a true family photo, it does have every family member represented.

Given the time of year and having three kids who just carved pumpkins, we grabbed a smaller fourth and started to put a few ideas together.  After looking at myriads of images on the internet of baby clip art and pumpkin images, we finally agre…

Set Up

Staging

Every photo starts somewhere.

The pumpkins were cute, but the image was a little lack luster.

Photo Bombers

There's one in every family, several in ours.  :)

Introducing the CamRanger

Favorite tool in my bag!!!  Not only can I get a sharper image from using the iPad to trigger the camera, but anyone helping stage the image enjoys knowing what I'm capturing, especially interior designers and in this case, my wife, who happens to be looking over my shoulder.
